Samuel Walsh has exhibited his work in many important open selection exhibitions throughout Ireland. He has been a consistent exhibitor at the annual Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts Exhibition in Dublin since first showing in 1982. He was an invited artist in 2005, 2008 and 2013. His work was selected for the Exhibition of Visual Art (EV+A now known as eva international) in Limerick in the 1980s and 1990s, and for the Irish Exhibition of Living Art, Dublin in the same decades. He has shown his work in Íontas, the small works exhibition in Sligo; the Claremorris Open; SADE, Cork; and An Oireachtas, Dublin.
