Awards & Commissions
Samuel Walsh has won many awards for his work in Ireland including:
1988, First Prize, Irish Exhibition of Living Art, Dublin.
1999, First Prize, Drawing, 10th Íontas Small Works Exhibition, Sligo.
2017, Winner, The Savills Art Prize, VUE Contemporary Art Fair, RHA Gallagher Gallery, Dublin.
His work has also been supported by a number of busaries and grants from the Arts Council of Ireland, Clare County Council Arts Office and from the Cultural Relations Committee of Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs (now known as Culture Ireland).
Internationally his work has been recognised and awarded in international exhibitions:
1997, Highly Commended, 2nd Taunton Open Drawing Exhibition, ENGLAND.
2000, Highly Commended, 1st World Festival of Art on Paper, Kranj, SLOVENIA. (also: 2001)
2001, Grand Prix (First Prize), 15th International Triennial of Drawing, Rijeka, CROATIA.
2004, Prize of the International Association of Art - Europe, IV International Biennial of Drawing, Pilsen, CZECH REPUBLIC.
He has also undertaken a number of commissions for private companies and public bodies:
P.J.Carroll & Co. Ltd., Dundalk, Co. Louth (now in the collection of Dundalk Institute of Technology, Co. Louth); National Self-Portrait Collection, University of Limerick, the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Dublin Corporation, Clare County Council, and Connemara Carpets, Co Galway.
